Publishing and updating

Saving, publishing, and updating are distinct operations.

  • Save preserves the draft.
  • Publish creates a version available to authorised User Views.
  • Update acquires a new generation of data for a published Import model.

Publishing a version​

  1. Save all changes.
  2. Run Preview on entities and the semantic query;
  3. select Publish;
  4. confirm;
  5. check dependent User Views.

Publishing does not automatically trigger a data update.

Versions and rollback​

The Versions selector lists published versions and their relative compatibility.

Rollback copies the selected version into the draft. To make it active again, you must review and publish it.

User Views can:

  • follow the last published version;
  • remain linked to a specific version.

Before removing or renaming fields and measures, check the dependencies shown in the catalogue.

Full update​

A full update reloads the data specified by the Import model and makes the new generation available only after successful completion.

During processing, Views continue to use previously published data.

Incremental update​

For an entity, you can enable incremental update by configuring:

  • key field;
  • field that identifies data progress;
  • overlap interval;
  • deletion handling.

Use this mode only when the source possesses suitable fields. Periodically verify the result using the available quality checks.

Start and monitor​

For a published Import model:

  1. select Actions… → Update;
  2. check the start message;
  3. follow the status in Refresh and diagnostics;
  4. wait for a final status.

Statuses distinguish pending, in-progress, successful, failed, or cancelled processing. If an update remains pending beyond the normal duration, contact the platform administrator providing the displayed reference.

Cancel an update​

An active update may show the Cancel update action.

The interruption is applied at a safe point. Current published data are not replaced by an incomplete generation.

Schedules​

Select Actions… → Schedule to create executions:

  • single;
  • recurring;
  • full;
  • incremental.

Enter a name, the required frequency, and the time zone, then activate the schedule. Schedules can be modified or deleted.

The model must be published before configuring a schedule.

Model management​

The Manage command gathers:

  • shares;
  • perimeter projects and roles;
  • manual connections;
  • advanced options.

Available shares are View, Edit, and Owner, compatible with the user's role in projects.

Export and import​

In the Designer Workbench, Export → Semantic Model downloads a model package. Import → Semantic Model allows you to load it and assign destination projects and roles.

The package contains the Semantic Model and the information needed to re-associate connections. Dependent User Views are not included nor proposed during import. Always check the summary before confirming.

If the operation creates a new Model, the user performing the import or duplication becomes the principal technical owner. The interface verifies compatibility with the chosen Project and roles.

Store the package only in authorised spaces.

Archiving and deletion​

Archiving is prevented when the model is still used by active User Views. Remove or update the indicated dependencies first.

The deletion modal displays versions, updates, User Views, Workflows, and other users with access. Without constraints, simply typing the exact name is sufficient. If constraints are present, the Owner can remove them or explicitly select forced deletion. In this case, history, generated Import data, and linked sources for User Views are also removed; access is revoked and the indicated Workflows must be reconfigured.

Troubleshooting​

  • Publication blocked: correct the validation errors indicated.
  • Update not available: verify that the model is Imported and Published.
  • Update failed: check the secure message and repeat the Preview of the affected entity.
  • Model not visible in a View: check publication, projects, roles, and sharing.
  • Storage blocked: consult the dependent Views shown in the catalog.
