Project Connections

Project Connections allow objects within the same Project to use a shared connection without associating it with application Roles. These are Studio Catalog objects created and managed in the Project Designer.

Environment Connections continue to function with existing rules. In particular, their name remains the stable reference shown in Workflows and cannot be renamed via the related interface.

Prerequisites and permissions

To create or modify a Project Connection, you must be Owner or Editor of the open Project. If the connection belongs to multiple Projects, management requires a role editable in all involved Projects.

Viewers can see the connection in the Catalog and use it in objects they have access to, but cannot modify it. Protected data is not shown in summaries or selectors.

Create a connection

1. Open the Project in Designer Workbench.
2. Open Project Connections in the right-hand sidebar.
3. Select New.
4. Enter the name and description, then choose the proposed type.
5. Fill in the displayed fields and select one or more editable Projects. For SSH, Authentication lets you choose Password or Private key; the private-key path is required only when Private key is selected.
6. Use Verify to test the entered data even before saving.
7. Save, or choose Cancel to discard the new connection and close the panel.

Saving and verification occur without reloading the page. While creating a connection, only non-destructive actions are available; disable, revoke, and delete appear after saving. If the test fails, the panel displays an operational message: correct the indicated fields and repeat the test.

Do not enter confidential information in the name or description, and do not copy it into screenshots, tickets, or shared documents.

Studio Catalog and Project association

After creation, the connection appears in the Studio Catalog with the type Project Connection and in the Projects to which it is associated. It also appears in the Add object to project modal, where it can be added to the selected Project.

A single connection can belong to multiple Projects: no copy is created and changes are shared. All compatible objects of each associated Project can select it.

Use it in Project objects

The Project or Project Connection entry appears in selectors of compatible consumers, including:

• Workflow Tasks that use database or SSH connections;
• Data sources of User Views;
• Entities of Semantic Models;
• Data Resources of Portals.

The connection must belong to at least one Project of the object using it. If an object is shared among multiple Projects, Sybot verifies that the reference remains valid within its perimeter before saving or execution.

Modify status and perimeter

From the sidebar, you can update the description, allowed fields, name, associated Projects, and status. A revoked connection cannot be reactivated.

Sybot prevents removing a Project or deleting the connection when it is still used by a Task, a User View, a Semantic Model, or a Portal of that perimeter. First, you must replace or remove the reference in the indicated objects.

Import and export

User View, Semantic Model, and Portal packages register the reference to the Project Connection but do not include protected values. During import, Sybot proposes a compatible connection from the destination Project; if none exists, you must create it or associate it with the Project and then repeat the operation.

Troubleshooting

Cannot remove a Project	Look for objects listed as dependencies and replace the connection first.
Import requires mapping	Create or associate a compatible Project Connection in the destination Project.
Test or Preview fails	Use the message shown and report only name, time, and diagnostic reference, without reserved values.
